LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A nice Memorial Day for the South Plains. After a mild start around 60 degrees in Lubbock the afternoon high will be a little warmer than Sunday. I’m forecasting 86 for the afternoon with mostly sunny skies. There could be some isolated showers or storms evening but not expected to be widespread.

Following Memorial Day, rain chances ramp-up with scattered showers and storms, some strong likely on Tuesday and again on Wednesday.
The remainder of the last week of May will be typical with afternoon highs in the 80s and a slight chance for storms over the region through Friday.
