AUSTIN, Texas — As Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits come to a halt due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the Central Texas Food Bank is stepping in to help.

In a statement to Spectrum News, the organization said it would hold special SNAP distributions to those in need in Travis, Hays, Bastrop and Williamson counties. An ID or proof of SNAP enrollment is not needed to participate.

“Just show up if you need help,” a Central Texas Food Bank official said.

Here are a list of SNAP distribution dates/times:

Bastrop County

Saturday, Nov. 1, 9-10:30 a.m., Cedar Creek High School, 793 Union Chapel Road, Cedar Creek

Travis County

Tuesday, Nov. 4, 5-7 p.m., Nelson Field, 7105 Berkman Drive, Austin
Saturday, November 8, 9-10:30 a.m., KIPP School South, 5107 IH 35, Austin

Hays County

Saturday, Nov. 8, 9-10:30 a.m., Uhland Elementary School, 2331 High Road, Kyle
Saturday, Nov. 15, 9-10:30 a.m., ACC Hays, 1200 Kohlers Crossing, Kyle
Saturday, Nov. 22, 9-10:30 a.m., 5700 Dacy Lane, Buda

Williamson County

Wednesday, Nov. 12, 5-7 p.m., 1801 E. Old Settlers Blvd., Round Rock

More special SNAP distributions will be added daily, the organization says. Those in need of food can use Central Texas Food Bank’s Find Food Now tool to locate a pantry.
