A 48-year-old man died Sunday evening after he fell off a boat near a docking area at Lewisville Lake, officials said in a statement Tuesday.

Lewisville fire crews and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Wardens responded to reports of a drowning at Eagle Point Marina about 7 p.m.

Once there, officials found an unresponsive man, later identified as Jeffrey Poarch, near the shoreline by the boat ramp.

Investigators believe Poarch fell into the water while docking before his brother, who was driving the boat, pulled him to the shoreline where witnesses performed CPR, the statement said.

Poarch was transported to the Medical Center of Lewisville where he died at 7:32 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

“Our thoughts are with Mr. Poarch’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the statement said.
