A bicyclist died Monday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 20 in Arlington, police said in a statement.
Officers responded about 3:49 p.m. to reports of a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Prius and a bicycle on eastbound I-20 near Matlock Road.
Investigators determined the unidentified bicyclist was crossing the interstate when a vehicle, which was traveling in the second lane, swerved to avoid them. A second vehicle, identified as the Toyota, was traveling behind when it struck the bicycle.
The bicyclist died at the scene, according to the statement, and the occupants of the Toyota sustained minor injuries.
Eastbound lanes of I-20 were temporarily closed near Cooper Street while officers investigated the crash.
