Former El Paso Zoo employee’s lawsuit over alleged sexual harassment dismissed

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – District Court Judge Bonnie Rangel has dismissed a lawsuit between a former El Paso Zoo employee and the City.

Rangel dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice earlier this month. Former employee Anahí Chavez Villegas alleged she was sexually harassed by her direct supervisor. She also alleged former Zoo director Joe Montisano and a human resources employee failed to “take immediate and appropriate corrective action.”

According to court records, Rangel signed her order on May 6. County records indicate both sides of the lawsuit had settled a motion hearing, and a jury trial for April was canceled.

KTSM has reached out to the City for comment.
