CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 9AM UPDATE: According to AEP Texas Corporate Communications Manager, Caleiri Quezada 10,844 customers without power. The peak of the power outage occurred between 2-5 a.m. with nearly 20,000 outages. Quezada says 32 crews have been working since 2:00 a.m. to restore services. They hope to have everyone back on by 3:00 p.m.

Strong storms moved through the region overnight Wednesday, causing delays for drivers and knocking out power to thousands of customers.
The first round of storms moved through the Coastal Bend just after midnight, followed by a second line of storms around 7 a.m.
The first storms caused flash flooding along North Padre Island Drive near the Leopard overpass. Several stalled vehicles were seen in the area, and there were reports of roadway closures. The water had mostly subsided by about 5:30 a.m.
The second wave brought heavy rain, thunder and lightning to Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. As of 8:30 a.m., AEP Texas was reporting about 14,000 customers without power. That number was down from nearly 20,000 at the peak of the outages. AEP Texas says crews are restoring service by redirecting power where possible.
