EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Pasoans Fighting Hunger is marking a new chapter for its Spark! Training Program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating a redesigned learning space made possible through support from Cummins.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, 9541 Plaza Circle in El Paso.
Organizers said the redesigned room is intended to be more than a renovated classroom, describing it as a place where people can learn new skills, build confidence and take steps toward a better future.
Spark! is part of the food bank’s workforce training efforts aimed at creating pathways toward long-term stability through hands-on learning and opportunity. The program helps participants prepare for careers in logistics and warehousing while gaining real-world experience in what El Pasoans Fighting Hunger described as a supportive environment designed to help them grow personally and professionally.
This space represents hope and opportunity for the people walking through these doors,” Kris Yagel, interim CEO of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, said. “We’re grateful to Cummins for believing in this program and helping create a space where people can invest in themselves and their future. Programs like Spark! only work when the community comes together to support them.
The run of show lists welcome remarks at 9 a.m., followed by remarks from El Pasoans Fighting Hunger at 9:05 a.m. and Cummins at 9:10 a.m. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., with a room walkthrough and media time at 9:20 a.m. The event is expected to conclude at 9:30 a.m.
Organizers said visual opportunities include the ribbon cutting, a walkthrough of the redesigned room, training space visuals and interviews with leadership and partners.
