EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Film Festival has been named to the MovieMaker Magazine’s annual list of “50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” for the third year in a row.

MovieMaker Magazine’s annual list highlights film festivals around the world that provide exceptional experiences and meaningful opportunities for independent filmmakers, according to officials.

The national recognition places EPFF among a select group of film festivals that are celebrated for their programming, filmmaker support, audience engagement, and overall festival experience, while reflecting the continued growth of the festival and its impact on both the regional and independent film communities.

The organization stated that over the past three years, EPFF has been recognized for its dedication to showcasing independent cinema and championing creative storytelling from filmmakers around the world.

Founded in 2018 by El Paso filmmaker Carlos F. Corral, the festival presents more than 40 feature-length and short films each year, including both narrative and documentary works.

“Being recognized by MovieMaker for a third consecutive year is a testament to the high standard of artistic excellence and filmmaker hospitality we’ve worked to establish since founding the festival,” said Corral.

EPFF said that through community partnerships with Creative El Paso, the festival also provides free programming, including screenings and educational industry panels, making film culture accessible to audiences across the region.

“This recognition shines a spotlight not only on the El Paso Film Festival, but on the incredible creative community that continues to grow here in El Paso,” said Interim President and CEO of Destination El Paso, Brooke Underwood. “We’re honored to partner with the El Paso Film Festival through filmmaker workshops and sponsorship opportunities that help storytellers develop their craft, connect with audiences, and bring new perspectives to the screen.

The 2026 El Paso Film Festival will take place Thursday, Sept. 24, through Saturday, Sept. 26, in Downtown El Paso. Confirmed venues include the Plaza Theatre and the Philanthropy Theatre.

Additional venues to be announced.
