The city of Dallas may feel like an H-E-B desert when it comes to finding Texas’ favorite grocery store. While the area towns of Frisco, Plano and Allen have all received H-E-B’s in recent years, Dallas proper has been left waiting. Now, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
The TDLR calls for a $52 million construction at I-635 and Hillcrest Road in Dallas’ 75230 ZIP code. While a specific address is not listed, the expected construction start date is March 1, 2027. The project is aiming to be finished by September 6, 2028, according to the TDLR, so Dallas folk still have a lot of waiting left to do.
Mabrie Jackson, the public affairs managing director for H-E-B and Central Market, confirmed with MySA that the Hillcrest H-E-B will be the company’s first in Dallas and will cover 127,000 square feet, complete with a three-story parking garage.
“We look forward to serving more Texans with this new location,” Jackson said.
H-E-B does not have any stores within the Dallas city limits as of May 2026, but the company does have a presence in the North Texas metro.
Dallas is home to three Central Markets, located at 5750 E. Lovers Lane, Dallas, TX 75206; 4349 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75220; and 10720 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75230.
Joe V’s Smart Shop also has two Dallas stores at 4101 W. Wheatland Road, Dallas, TX 75237 and 7700 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, TX 75227. Meanwhile Dallas shoppers can find H-E-B’s in three area towns, located at 6001 Preston Road, Plano, TX 75093; 4800 Main St., Frisco, TX 75033 and 575 E. Exchange Pkwy., Allen, TX 75002.
