In the latest round of barbs being traded in the Lone Star State, Texas Tech as upped the ante, and perhaps pulling off unprecedented feat.

At Big 12 spring meetings, Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire has said that he’s called Texas State and Abilene Christian about canceling their Week 1 games with Texas and Texas Tech.

Why?

So, McGuire and the Red Raiders can rekindle a rivalry with the Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarksian.

Even willing to make it a neutral site game at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX.

This comes after Sark called out Texas Tech regarding their schedule and path to the College Football Playoff recently.

“There’s a team in our state in another conference with a schedule that I would argue, if I played with our twos and threes [on the depth chart], we could go undefeated,” Sarkisian said recently. “And they’ll probably make the CFP this year.”

Noted Texas Tech benefactor Cody Campbell has even gotten in on the fun, willing to fund the buyout for both of Texas Tech and UT’s Week 1 opener.

Texas, it appears the ball is in your court.
