EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Rotary Club of El Paso kicked off its 12th annual El Paso Winefest with a grand tasting on Saturday, Nov. 1, and will continue on Sunday in Downtown El Paso.

Located in the heart of downtown El Paso on Main and Stanton Streets, the grand tasting featured a variety of signature creations by 24 of the region’s renowned chefs and top-rated restaurants and 500 wines from around the world, all for sale through the El Paso Winefest app.

The event follows on Sunday. Nov. 2, with the gastronomic battle, led by the Culinary Institute by Southwest University, happening from 1 to 3:30 p.m., according to the Rotary Club in a news release.

The Culinary Village will showcase a competitive creative playground where Culinary Institute students will dish out flavors perfectly paired with a diverse selection of libations.

Wines, beers and bubbles will be perfectly paired with 12 signature dishes prepared by the student teams. Attendees will help crown the champion culinary team of the year, according to the Rotary Club.

Proceeds will go to support Rotary Club of El Paso projects, including Children’s Holiday Party and Book Distribution, RotaCare El Paso free Medical Clinic, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, International Youth Exchange, Rotary Wheels Bikes for Kids, and Ramp Builds to assist disabled and homebound individuals.

In addition, the Rotary Club said this year’s event will feature a special commemorative poster designed for the event by Krystyna Robbins. Krystyna is displaying her works during the events and her original art poster was auctioned off on Saturday. A percentage of proceeds from art and framing sales will also benefit the Rotary Club of El Paso projects.
