LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Officers responded to a report of an attempted carjack in the 800 block of Broadway Ave. just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
An off-duty Lubbock Police officer, who was at the courthouse for a trial, observed an altercation involving a woman with a child and a man trying to steal her car. As the officer approached, the man ran away.
A chase started, and a privately contracted security guard employed by Citibus joined the pursuit.
During the foot chase, the security guard shot his weapon before the suspect was caught.
The man suffered moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to UMC.
