LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – High school football standouts from across West Texas will suit up one final time for the 2026 ASCO All-Star Football Classic Saturday night. It’s the one event that marks the end of one life chapter for these athletes and the beginning of another.
“This game means a lot to me because it’s my last game,” said Coronado quarterback JJ Villalobos. “There’s a lot of emotions in this game knowing it’s my last game and just putting on the helmet and the pads one more time, getting to go at it is a blessing.”
Estacado running back James Bozeman was a dynamic playmaker for the Matadors and will soon head to Fort Worth to play for Texas Wesleyan, but not without a quick stop Saturday night at Lowrey Field.
“Actually, it’s been great getting on the field again. I’m really getting prepared for the next level to go play college football, and it’s been great just having new friends and getting to know everybody. It’s been great,” Bozeman said.
Along with the helmet and pads, the players have also had several days to regain their “game day mentality”. That said, the atmosphere will be far more relaxed than what they are accustomed to in the fall.
“There’s a lot of good competition, but with all of us, we’re just here to have fun one more time. But some of them, they have careers after this, so hopefully they do good in this,” said Christian Quintana, who was an offensive and defensive lineman for the Roughnecks last season.
