May brought departures from local TV stations as well as the announcement of an end of an era for one long-running food and wine show.

Another month, another wave of shake-ups at TV stations in San Antonio and across the state. From sudden exits to new additions, here’s what you might’ve missed in May.
Avery Everett leaves KSAT 12 after 3 years
On May 27, KSAT 12 reporter Avery Everett said she’ll be leaving the station after three “unforgettable years” at the San Antonio ABC affiliate. Her last day will be Friday, June 5.

“This city welcomed me with open arms and gave me the opportunity to tell stories of resilience, celebration, heartbreak and hope,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “While I’m excited for what’s next, leaving this incredible community is not easy. A piece of my heart will always be here. I am so thankful for this place and for you.”
KSAT 12 welcomes reporter Hannah Gonzales
Despite the departures, KSAT 12 has also welcomed several new faces. Hannah Gonzales is the latest reporter to join, alongside additions like Alexis Scott, Madalynn Lambert and Executive Reporter Brian Collister (a TV veteran). A San Antonio native, Gonzales most recently worked at KSEE in Fresno, California.
In a statement, KSAT 12 News Director Jace Larson said, “KSAT 12 is thrilled to welcome Hannah Gonzales back to the city she’s always called home. A San Antonio native, Hannah attended Providence Catholic School — just steps from this very newsroom — and has spent her career building deep roots in community journalism across South Texas. She brings that hard-earned experience, and an unmistakable passion for local storytelling, back where it belongs.”

Meteorologist Kristin Walla leaves KIII after 4 years
After a little over four years on air in Corpus Christi, meteorologist Kristin Walla announced her departure from KIII on May 5, with her last day coming on May 10. In a Facebook post, she reminisced on her time at the station, including meeting her fiancé there. As for her next move, Walla will be joining KVUE in Austin.
She told MySA in an email, “I’m sad to be leaving the Coastal Bend, which has become like a second home and family to me, but I’m also very excited for this new chapter in Austin. I can’t wait to get started and am looking forward to the challenges of a new climate and weather patterns. KIII will always hold a special place in my heart.”

TV veteran Tanji Patton ends long-running show
Goodtaste with Tanji host Tanji Patton announced the end of an era this month. On Facebook, Patton (formerly with News 4 for 17 years and the host of San Antonio Living) wrote that her food and wine show will run its last season after more than a decade on air. She said the change is “one of the biggest decisions of my career.
According to Patton, the faith-based Goodtaste for the Soul podcast will now be the focus. She said, “We’ll continue sharing food and wine through our digital platforms, while also creating inspiring, uplifting conversations through the podcast. I’m beyond blessed to step into this chapter alongside my son, Cash, who is helping produce and handle marketing.”
“This decision actually began two years ago, with a very real, still small voice — to use my voice for Him,” she wrote. “I am incredibly grateful for the talented team of professionals I work with at Goodtaste—photographers, producers, editors. It’s no coincidence our paths crossed. I truly believe God placed us on a beautiful collision course—a plan He set in motion long before any of us realized it.”

KIII reporter Lidia Herrera makes exit
Yet another TV personality left KIII in Corpus Christi this month. Reporter Lidia Herrera announced her departure after a little over two years on May 22, noting that her last day would be May 29.
“These past 2.2 years have flown by,” Herrera wrote on Instagram. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to cover stories across the Coastal Bend and meet so many incredible people along the way.” As for her next steps, she has yet to say more about where she’ll be headed.
WFAA’s Tiffany Liou departs Dallas after 8 years
A longtime Dallas reporter is leaving the state where she built “a really beautiful life,” she announced on social media. Tiffany Liou spent eight years at WFAA as a general assignment reporter, writing at length about the ways the city has changed her life, such as being the youngest reporter in the newsroom when she arrived in 2018. Liou said it’s the city where she and her family bought their first and second homes as well as the city where she became a mother.

“I grew to love this city because of the people who surround our family. From my colleagues in news, to old school friends, daycare friends, neighborhood friends, gym friends, to the friends I met on stories and more — you became our village,” she wrote. “It’s what makes leaving difficult beyond words.”
Her last day at WFAA will be July 1.
