WESTWORTH VILLAGE – Royster “Roy” Jernigan, 91, passed away on May 27, 2026. Roy was born on September 14, 1934, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to parents, Dicey and Lib Jernigan. He attended high school and served in the U.S. Army for 22.5 years as a drill instructor. He married Margaret Jernigan on October 26, 1994, and together they lived in Fort Worth, Texas, with their children. In his free time, Roy enjoyed playing bingo, going to WinStar, supporting the military, and spending time with his beloved family. Roy was preceded by his parents, Dicey and Lib Jernigan; and siblings, John, Juke, Robert, Bronie, Lucy and Swannie. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jernigan; son, Rick Jernigan and his family; son, John Vandiver Jr. and his family; daughter, Anna Lee and her family; daughter, Tissa Hurt and her family; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Jesse Buie.
