In its first game in Astound Broadband Stadium as a member of the USL League Two, West Texas FC pulls out a 3-3 draw.
MIDLAND, Texas — West Texas FC played at Astound Broadband Stadium for the first time this season Saturday, and was able to secure a 3-3 draw against the Lubbock Matadors.
It’s also West Texas FC’s first home game as a member of the USL League Two. Diego Robles, Tom Nkassa, and Ian Silva each netted a goal for the home team, while Momo Diop, Brady Schumacher, and Theo Butterworth each scored for the Matadors.
West Texas FC took the lead first on Robles goal, before Diop knotted it up at 1-1 at halftime. The Permian Basin team grabbed the lead again on Nkassa’s header, but Schumacher’s high chopper tied it again. Lubbock grabbed its first lead of the night of Butterworth’s goal, but Silva drew the equalizer on a penalty kick for the draw.
West Texas FC (0-1-1) is next back in action at Astound Broadband Stadium on Wednesday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. against Texoma FC.
