This compound outside of downtown Austin, in the Westlake Highlands neighborhood, offers a completely redone 1980s main house, a guest casita, a two-story music studio with an attached office and a covered steel dining pavilion.
The 1982 house on Peace Pipe Path was renovated and modernized by previous owners in the early 2000s, said listing agent Riley Ingebritson, of Coldwell Banker Realty. Mell Lawrence, the architect who oversaw the rebuild, is “quite well-known in Austin.”
Modern building elements include limestone, glass, steel and poured concrete, yet “it has the warmth of a farmhouse,” she said.
Other architectural details include an open floor plan, exposed beams, high ceilings, concrete countertops, oak floors, and exposed brick and stone walls.
The two-level main house features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, an enclosed porch that overlooks the pool, and a primary wing with a private deck, an outdoor shower and a cedar-lined closet, according to the listing.

A staircase made of walnut and pine leads upstairs, which has a second primary suite with a walk-in closet and a built-in desk, and two smaller bedrooms outfitted as bunkrooms, Ingebritson said. “It almost feels like you’re in summer camp in those rooms.”
The second floor of the professional music studio has a full bathroom and could easily be made into a guest suite, she said. The attached office also has a full bathroom along with a built-in desk and cabinetry.
Because of a fire, the garage, which has a glass door, is newly built. “They use it as an overflow space for parties,” she said. “It looks more like an art studio.”
The gated and fenced property is quite private, Ingebritson said. “You’re surrounded by trees and the property has a meadow. You don’t see any neighboring properties.”
Stats
Including the main house, the guest casita and the music studio, the 6,276-square-foot compound has six bedrooms and seven full bathrooms. It sits on a 1.6-acre lot.

Neighborhood Notes
From the home, it’s five minutes to Davenport Village, an upscale shopping center, and the private Austin Country Club, Ingebritson said.
“It’s a 10-minute drive to downtown Austin, yet it feels like you’re in Texas Hill Country,” she said.
