Man hit, killed after exiting his vehicle to assess damage from minor crash, Fort Worth police say

A man assessing his vehicle after a minor crash died after he was hit by another driver, who then left the scene, Fort Worth police said.

Officers responded around 1:58 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, to Interstate 35W at East Ripy Street, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a press release.

Investigators found that an adult man had exited his vehicle following a minor crash when he was hit by another vehicle, officials said. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The suspect in the crash fled the scene but was later located and arrested by police, the release states.

The incident remains under investigation.
