One of North Texas’ most affluent suburbs is doubling down on athletic facilities across the city.
The project is estimated to cost $8.2 million, as approximately 24,000 square yards of grass turf and 3,600 linear feet of chain-link fence are set to be replaced and installed, beginning on July 1. Other projects include improvements to North Park’s drainage and sidewalks, paving of approximately 6,400 square yards of parking, conversion to LED lighting for the sports fields, irrigation upgrades for turf cooling, and waste management expansions.
Currently, the primary users of North Park’s sports facilities include the City of Southlake’s recreational youth flag football and lacrosse leagues. The park also hosts various adult and community athletic programs throughout the year, including high school and collegiate lacrosse games and high school flag football competitions.
Most notably, the Hero 7v7 Flag Football series—a major youth and high school football circuit that hosts competitions with teams traveling across the country—stops at North Park every year.
Construction is set to be complete at North Park by the end of 2026. This project falls under the city’s capital improvement program, approved in February, with more than $36.7 million in planned projects through September 2026.
