A Houston woman is dead after being hit by a car while attempting to cross Fondren Road Monday night, according to Houston Police Department officials.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near the 6700 block of Fondren Road, where a driver traveling northbound in an Infiniti struck an elderly woman who was using a walker to cross the street. The woman was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.
Houston Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the woman deceased. Authorities say the woman lived in the surrounding neighborhood.
The driver, described as a young woman, remained on the scene following the crash.
Investigators with the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division say the driver showed no signs of impairment and had no prior history of reckless driving.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division is handling the investigation. No charges had been announced as of this report.
