EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso Independent School District leaders are racing to close a projected multimillion-dollar budget deficit with weeks left before the district must approve a balanced budget by the end of June.

According to the district, EPISD is projecting a roughly $52.8 million shortfall for the current 2025-2026 budget year. Looking ahead, the district is also projecting a roughly $42.1 million shortfall for the 2026-2027 budget year.

At the same time, El Paso ISD is considering whether to ask voters to approve a future bond to tackle hundreds of millions of dollars in facility needs.
