Mexican restaurant Sueño Cocteleria Mexicana is expected to open June 10, 2026, in Snider Plaza, across the street from Southern Methodist University.
The historic University Park shopping center is a patchwork of restaurants and shops like 65-year-old German market Kuby’s and 45-year-old southern restaurant Bubba’s Cooks Country. Sueño will move into a new building in place of the beloved former Peggy Sue BBQ.
Sueño founders Julio Pineda and Cristian Lujano, who are cousins from Mexico City, remain involved in the restaurant.
Sueño in Snider Plaza will have two components: a restaurant and a tequila lounge called Alma Agave, according to a news release.
Sueño’s menu also includes Tex-Mex dishes like fajitas, priced $27 to $40. And, it offers a Mexican Caesar salad ($15.50), a fun addition for trivia buffs, as the Caesar salad was invented in Tijuana, Mexico, and not in Italy or America, as some might assume.
Bone marrow pork belly, a $26 appetizer served with avocado purée, is likely to be a talker. The menu also includes several varieties of tacos and enchiladas, including lamb birria and mole polano.
The cocktails are intended to feel “as intentional and layered as the food,” said cocktail co-creator Marco Lujano in a statement. After a section on margaritas and ranch waters, the menu includes over a dozen other cocktails priced $15 to $19. Most feature agave-based spirits tequila and mezcal.
Particularly unique are four clarified cocktails — a science experiment that removes the color from the drink. They’re called ponches de leche, or milk punches. The CDMX is one example: Ocho Blanco tequila, Condesa gin, lemon juice, strawberry, coffee-infused Aperol, falernum, rhubarb and white chocolate leaf. Another is made with mezcal, pineapple brandy and yuzu sake and comes topped with studs of chile-mango caviar.
Visitors to the 23-seat Alma Agave bar will find a separate menu of Mexican snacks.
“Alma is an invitation to slow down, taste with intention and experience Mexico one sip and one bite at a time,” the menu reads.
Sueño and Alma Agave are at 6600 Snider Plaza, Dallas. When they open in mid-June 2026, Sueño will serve dinner seven days a week and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Alma Agave is evenings only, seven days a week. Reservations recommended.
