Plano has landed another corporate heavyweight. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is moving its U.S. headquarters to Plano from New Jersey, a blockbuster corporate relocation that further elevates the Dallas suburb’s status as one of the fastest-growing centers for technology and telecommunications.

The South Korean electronics company plans to move 1,000 employees from Englewood Cliffs to Plano by the end of the year, according to the Korea Times, which first reported the relocation. The move comes less than a year after the company unveiled a new 321,000-square-foot corporate campus in Englewood at 700 Sylvan Ave.
A spokesperson for Samsung said the move is designed to position the firm for long-term growth while building on the company’s three-decade presence in Texas.
“The transition, which will be completed by the end of the year, is intended to strengthen alignment across teams and offices, and sharpen our focus on the areas that will drive the greatest impact for our customers, partners and business,” a company spokesperson said in a June 2 email to Dallas Business Journal.
