Karolina’s Antiques relocated from Beacon Hill to South Flores Street in February of this year, where the local shop has been selling its colorful wares and puro San Anto merchandise. Around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, the business was broken into.
“They broke the window, came back a few minutes later and stuffed our shirts into an empty bag. If you recognize these individuals please send us any information,” Karolina’s Antiques wrote in the caption of an Instagram post.
In a statement to MySA, Karolina’s Antiques said: “We are disappointed this happens but still feel extremely grateful for the community that constantly [rallies] around us and outweighs any negative moments that may happen.”
Regarding security measures, the business said, “We are going to add more cameras and bars to our windows for extra protection. We had so many neighbors and people who have seen these two walking around regularly in our neighborhood and we are certain they will be caught.”
A public information officer with the San Antonio Police Department confirmed to MySA that SAPD officers were dispatched to Karolina’s Antiques and created a report of the incident. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
Despite the break-in, Karolina’s Antiques will continue to open for regular business hours and welcomes customers to shop its diverse collections of decor, clothing and accessories as the Spurs prepare to take on the Knicks in the NBA Finals, with Game 1 tipping off tonight, Wednesday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m.
“Even though we had this happen, we have been tremendously blessed with the volume of support from our beautiful San Antonio,” the shop wrote on Instagram.
