Nearly two years after debuting its hit flagship shop, La Rue Doughnuts is expanding with a second location in Frisco.
Owned by Rowlett chefs Amy and Casey La Rue, the pastry shop is mostly known for its doughnuts — hence the name — with options such as vanilla and chocolate glaze brioche doughnuts, churro crullers and cornbread cake doughnuts.
“We like our spot in Trinity Groves a lot, between the staff that surrounds our shop, to the guests that we see everyday; it really feels like a connected community,” Casey La Rue said in an email to The Dallas Morning News.
When looking to expand, La Rue said they did some polls on social media to figure out where to go. They found an “overwhelming preference” for north of the Bush Turnpike, which is where a lot of their customers commute from.
The new Frisco location will be similar to the location in Trinity Groves, La Rue said, except it won’t have room for indoor seating. However, it will have a patio, and it’s conveniently located near the B.F. Phillips Community Park.
The space, which was previously occupied by an Indian restaurant, is being repainted and the shop’s signature gold wallpaper will be installed. La Rue anticipates it will open within the next two months.
“We want to be a regular stop for people and an integrated part of their lives. This is far more appealing to us as we expand,” he said.
