EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 25-year-old Mexican national was arrested near El Paso, Texas, after authorities identified him as the caretaker of a stash house used to harbor undocumented migrants, according to U.S. Border Patrol officials.

Chief Patrol Agent Rosario “Pete” Vasquez announced the arrest, stating that the suspect was taken into custody for harboring three undocumented individuals, including two unaccompanied minors.

During the investigation, the suspect allegedly admitted to concealing at least five undocumented migrants per week at the apartment. Authorities estimate he earned approximately $18,000 over a three-month period through the operation.

It’s unknown when and where the incident happened.

Federal officials said the suspect now faces immigrant smuggling-related charges. The three individuals found at the residence will be processed by immigration authorities and are expected to be removed from the United States in accordance with federal immigration laws.

The investigation remains ongoing.
