A Woodlands teen has been arrested and is facing a criminally negligent homicide charge of in the shooting death of his 16-year-old brother Thursday morning.
Easton J. Spoklie, 17, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail. No bond has been set.
The identity of the younger brother was not released. Officials said they believe the shooting was accidental.
Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Redberry Court around 4 a.m., following a 911 call reporting a teen with a gunshot wound, according to information from the sheriff’s office.
Patrol units arrived on scene within minutes and began lifesaving measures. Despite their efforts, the teen was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to officials, the teen was with Spoklie and a 19-year-old friend, who was not identified.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators, along with representatives from the DA’s office and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing to investigate the shooting.
