The community is invited to attend a Corpus Christi Procession and Summer Fest on Sunday in Perry.
The events are being organized by the Knights of Columbus, Regina Guild, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s School and the Hispanic community. The day will kick off with English mass at 9 a.m., Spanish mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
The Corpus Christi Procession will follow along Lucinda and 3rd Street before ending at the church. St. Pat’s Principal Kandice Pattillo says the Summer Fest activities will be held on the south green lot across from the church.
She adds that the Knights of Columbus are slow-roasting a whole hog. Pattillo invites attendees to bring a side salad or a dessert to add to the potluck meal. Tableware and water will be provided, but attendees can bring other non-alcoholic beverages.
Other activities will include inflatables, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and craft activities. T-shirts will also be available for sale.
Pattillo talks about what she is looking forward to about the event, which is now in its third year.
“It’s a really good event for faith, family, fellowship and a way to kind of celebrate the parish and the community. And we’re really excited that Father Nick has tied it to the Feast of Corpus Christi to keep that faith element alive with the whole event as well.”
She invites the entire community to come enjoy the Summer Fest activities on Sunday. In case of inclement weather, the festivities will be moved to the school gym.
