Major weekend roadwork on 1604 begins Friday night
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Work continues on the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, and the Texas Department of Transportation is announcing the following closures through the weekend.
Bridge construction will be taking place, weather permitting, and this is what you need to watch for:
Eastbound and westbound Loop 1604 frontage roads at the interchange
Eastbound I-10 mainlanes at the interchange
Westbound I-10 mainlanes left lane at the interchange
These weekend closures are expected to occur from 1 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026, until 5 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026, weather permitting. All flyovers at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange will remain open. Please follow detour signage.
DETOUR INFORMATION
Eastbound Loop 1604 Frontage Road
Drivers on the EB Loop 1604 frontage road looking to enter the EB Loop 1604 mainlanes or continue through the I-10 interchange will keep right and enter the EB I-10 frontage road. They will use the U-turn at UTSA Boulevard, entering the WB I-10 frontage road. Drivers will keep right to re-enter the EB Loop 1604 frontage road. They may enter the Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
Westbound Loop 1604 Frontage Road
Drivers on the WB Loop 1604 frontage road looking to continue through the I-10 interchange will keep right and enter the WB I-10 frontage road. They will use the U-turn at La Cantera Parkway, entering the EB I-10 frontage road. Drivers will keep right to re-enter the WB Loop 1604 frontage road.
Eastbound I-10 Mainlanes
Drivers on the EB I-10 mainlanes will exit via Exit 555 to the EB I-10 frontage road. Drivers will continue on the EB I-10 frontage road through the Loop 1604 interchange and may then enter the EB I-10 mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp.
Eastbound I-10 Mainlanes (Truck and Oversize Vehicle Detour)
Truck and oversize vehicle drivers on the EB I-10 mainlanes will exit via Exit 555 to the EB I-10 frontage road. They will keep right, entering the WB Loop 1604 frontage road and enter the WB Loop 1604 mainlanes via the first available entrance ramp. They will then exit to the WB Loop 1604 frontage road via the Kyle Seale Parkway exit, and use the U-turn at Kyle Seale Parkway, entering the EB Loop 1604 frontage road. Drivers will follow signs to EB I-10 to re-enter the EB I-10 mainlanes via the flyover ramp.
