Former Maverick and current color analyst Derek Harper was on the Run It Back podcast last week and said he thinks Doncic will play for the team again at some point in his career. The guard has two more years on his current contract with the Lakers before a player option, but Harper predicted everything would come full circle for Doncic and the Mavericks.
“Especially here in Dallas, people love Luka. I mean, I think he’ll eventually retire a Maverick,” Harper said.
Mavs fans would certainly welcome Doncic back with open arms. As for the man who traded him? That’s a different story, as Harper also pointed out.
“You know what that’s about, man. Nico [Harrison] is my buddy, but I would not want my name on that trade if I ever had anything to do with the NBA,” Harper said. “That one is hard to get around. It really is. At the time, they were thinking about doing it and were quick to react, and it just did not work out.”
