The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) in Lubbock has opened its annual call for exhibition proposals, seeking submissions for the 2027-2028 season.
Curators, artist groups, and individual artists are invited to submit proposals for group or solo exhibitions in all media for the institution’s four galleries: the Helen Devitt Jones Studio Gallery with exposed brick and skylights, the 700-square-foot John F. Lott Gallery, the Christine DeVitt Exhibition Hall with 35-foot-high ceiling, and the 500-square-foot Martin McDonal Hall. According to the LHUCA submissions guidelines, applicants are encouraged to design their proposals with the qualities of each gallery in mind.

Exhibitions selected for the 2027-2028 season will go on view for two-month periods, with viewership of 5,000 attendees each, including audiences during popular downtown Lubbock First Friday Art Trails.
Past exhibitions at LHUCA have included solo shows by Lubbock sculptor Chad Plunket, Fort Worth photography artist Kaylee Appleton, and Denver sculptor and Texas Tech University graduate AliAnn Rushing Attilio, and group shows The Fall of Civilization, an exhibition juried by Denton interdisciplinary artist and educator Alicia Eggert; and a show of Dallas’ Conduit Gallery artists.
Proposals should include images, artist or curator’s statement, requested gallery space, and requested exhibition dates. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, September 13, and applicants will be notified of results by mid-October.
