KILLEEN, Texas — Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a SWAT situation in Killeen early Sunday morning.
At around 3:10 a.m. Sunday morning, Killeen police responded to reports of gunshots in the 600 block of of Blake Street.
Officers found a man running out of a residence when they arrived to the scene; the man told the police that another person inside had been shot.
Shots were fired at the officers while they were investigating, according to Killeen PD, prompting the Killeen Police Tactical Response Unit to come to the scene.
Police say SWAT officers breached the door and found a 25-year-old man lying near the entrance who had been shot.
Officers tried to remove the man from the home to render aid, police say, when the suspect, a 36-year-old man, fired at the officers.

The officers returned fire, shooting the suspect. Police say he was then airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.
Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Killeen police say the officer who shot the suspect is on administrative leave per department policy. The police department says that the officer has served with Killeen PD for four years.
