LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Heavy showers and storms have created some flooding concerns across portions of the South Plains this morning. We’ll see more rain on and off throughout the day today before our chances begin to wrap up tonight and Sunday.

TODAY
We’ll maintain a decent chance for at least isolated showers and storms throughout the day-time hours today. Flooding will be the highest concern in areas of heavy rainfall today with a slim chance of seeing severe thunderstorms at times today.

High temperatures will top out around the 80 degree mark but heavily dependent on how persistent the rain is today.
TONIGHT
Quiet and mild. Overnight lows remain in the 60s with rain chances slimming down to none as the night progresses.
SUNDAY
Beautiful, sunny and hot! A significant warm up is in store for Sunday as high temperatures soar to the lower 90s for most.
High temps are going to soar after rain chances and most of our clod cover exits over the coming days(Dylan Smith)
Rain chances will be/stay very low with a hint of isolated shower activity being picked up by some models out west.
EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN
Quiet, sunny and hot. Next week is shaping up to look a lot like summer for the South Plains.

High temperatures will climb into the 90s and stay there for the majority of next week. Rain chances are looking to creep back up late next week but they’re slim for now.
