Zach Thompson gives his top teams to consider for MLB DFS stacks on Saturday’s daily fantasy baseball slate on DraftKings.

On Saturday, Major League Baseball has a handful of games on the main slate for DraftKings contests, which get underway at 7:35 p.m. ET. With a solid 10-team player pool, a few very smashable spots stand out to attack for offensive production. Let’s run down my top three plays in Saturday night’s MLB DFS Stacks.

Milwaukee Brewers: Opposing arm Zach Agnos will likely start or serve as the bulk reliever after Tanner Gordon (hip) was placed on the IL. Agnos had a 6.61 ERA and 5.62 FIP in 30 MLB games last year and has a 7.78 ERA and 4.97 FIP in 37 MLB innings this year.

Texas Rangers: Opposing starter Tanner Bibee is 0-7 with a 5.47 ERA this season. On the road, he has a 5.96 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with five homers allowed in 25 2/3 innings.

New York Mets: Opposing starter Griffin Canning faces his former team after going 0-4 with a 7.16 ERA in his first six starts for the Padres. Opponents have six HR and an 11.5% barrel rate against Canning this season.

Before we break down all the selections for these contests, let’s define exactly what we’re searching for. An ideal target for MLB DFS stacks is a team well-positioned to score plenty of runs based on its matchup and ballpark. “Stacking” is the strategy of adding multiple players from the same MLB lineup to your roster to boost each other’s production.

Ideally, MLB DFS stacks focus on players who are either back-to-back or from the same part of the lineup to allow positive correlation. Since most run-scoring plays produce fantasy points for multiple players, stacking a high-scoring team can carry your entry to the top of the leaderboard. The key to MLB DFS stacks paying off is finding the perfect matchup to attack, so let’s take a deeper look at the top spots.

1. Milwaukee Brewers

Brice Turang ($6,200)
Jackson Chourio ($5,900)
Christian Yelich ($5,800)

It’s an expensive stack. It’s an obvious stack. But that doesn’t mean it’s the wrong stack to build around on Saturday night. The Brewers take on the Rockies at Coors Field with warm temperatures and the wind blowing out. They’ll get a great matchup against Zach Agnos, who will likely start or be the bulk reliever after Tanner Gordon (hip) was placed on the IL. Agnos had a 6.61 ERA and 5.62 FIP in 30 MLB games last year and has a 7.78 ERA and 4.97 FIP in 37 MLB innings this year. Righties have hit .337 with a .442 wOBA, 49.3% hard-hit rate, and 14.1% barrel rate this year, but lefties have also hit him well, making either side of this stack an attractive place to start.

I highlighted Bauers in my top Saturday home run props since he’s been swinging the bat so well, but Turang and Yelich also come in with some good momentum. Yelich has averaged 9.4 FPTS over his last 10 games, and Turang has 9+ FPTS in four of his last five games with an average of 13.4 FPTS during that short stretch and 9.9 FPTS on the season.

Chourio was widely owned in Friday’s contest, but he came up empty, going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. He is still averaging 15.3 FPTS per game over his last seven contests with a 38.1% hard-hit rate and 14.3% barrel rate. Mitchell brings a high power and speed ceiling, although he hasn’t been quite as hot as the rest of the lineup lately.

2. Texas Rangers

Corey Seager ($4,400)

Danny Jansen ($2,500)

The Rangers are a much more affordable stack and can even be blended in with the Brewers to help balance out spending. They’ll get a good matchup against struggling Guardians starter Tanner Bibee ($6,800), who is 0-7 with a 5.47 ERA this season. He has allowed 13 homers in 13 starts along with a 1.30 WHIP. On the road, he has a 5.96 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with five homers allowed in 25 2/3 innings.

Lefties have done most of the damage against Bibee, hitting nine homers with a .333 wOBA and a .231 ISO as a result of a 14.4% barrel rate. Seager, Pederson, and Carter are on the strong side of those splits, while Langford and Jansen are solid value plays with good momentum and lineup spots for their price points.

Seager had 16 FPTS in his return from a three-week absence with a back injury, hitting a key two-run homer on Friday. Langford also returned and went 1-for-4 with a double and 7 FPTS. He missed even longer than Seager but was rolling well before his time on the IL with a forearm injury.

Pederson has at least 14 FPTS in six of his last 10 games and is averaging 12.7 FPTS over that span. He has typically moved to the leadoff spot against righties like Bibee. Jansen is a bargain backstop that brings upside after averaging 6.8 FPTS over his last four starts.

3. New York Mets

The Mets are another solid value option in MLB DFS stacks this Saturday against former teammate Griffin Canning ($5,400). Canning is 0-4 with a 7.16 ERA in his first six starts for the Padres, giving up six homers and an 11.5% barrel rate. He has a 1.55 WHIP, so there has been plenty of traffic against him on a regular basis this season.

Soto is the clear centerpiece of the Mets’ offense and has averaged 9.4 FPTS over his last nine games. He is up to 13 homers in his 46 games with a .391 wOBA.

The rest of the lineup makes sense as value options, either around Soto or other big bats. Benge has five games of double-digit FPTS in his last eight, averaging 10.6 FPTS per game over that stretch.

Baty had two hits and 10 FPTS against the Padres on Friday, while Young came through as one of my top value plays with 17 FPTS. He has four games of double-digit FPTS in his last six contests and is averaging 10.7 FPTS over that stretch. At only $2,500, he’s a great value option again Saturday who can fit in either the OF or at 1B.
