LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Parishioners at St. Teresa Catholic Church took to the streets Sunday morning, praying and singing as they celebrated Corpus Christi.
Around 100 members made their way from the church down Randolph Street to the Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration convent after 8 a.m. morning Mass, stopping at altars along the way in a procession.
The tradition honors the Eucharist or Holy Sacrament and is practiced around the world.
Father Nicholas Kipper said this is one way they display their faith.
“The Eucharist that we process with throughout this time, this morning, is Jesus’s very presence moving us and that is the outward sense of what our faith is really to be about,” Kipper said.
After reaching the convent, the sisters prayed over the sacrament. Kipper called it a fitting place to end.
