OBITUARY
Arthur Alvin Anderson of Plano, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Bickford of Aurora on Monday, June 1, 2026. Art was born to Alvin M. and Ardith A. Anderson on November 25, 1933, in Plano. On May 30, 1953, he married Joyce M. Killey and they spent the next 43 years together until Joyce’s passing in 1997.
Art was a lifelong resident of Plano, except for the 2 years he served in the United States Army’s 4th Army when he was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland and the last months of his life while in Mary B’s memory care section of Bickford of Aurora. He was always active in all things Plano, whether it was serving as a precinct committee man, sitting on the Board of Education, officiating many youth sporting events over many years or sitting under the Friday Night Lights cheering the Reapers to victory.
Art believed in working hard for a living and worked for Allsteel in Montgomery for over 40 years. He enjoyed many hobbies, camping and fishing “the Big Wing Dam,” gardening at which he excelled, and many benefitted from. He loved his family with all his heart, and they prospered and expanded.
He is survived by his son, David Anderson (Anne Roloff), Jody Robbins (Chuck) and Jennifer DuSell (Tim), as well as his grandchildren, Ryan (Lisa) Anderson, Neal (Stephanie) Anderson, Alyssa Kelly (Chris), Benjamin Fraley (Abby Lattanzo), Jacob Fraley (Colleen Campbell), Katie Mick (Ryan), Zack (Holli) DuSell, Kallan Anderson and Cooper Anderson. In addition, he is survived by 7, soon to be 8 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL. Interment will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Joyce, and near his sister Donna Wade.
Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL.
Art’s family would like to thank the staff of Bickford of Aurora for the awesome care they took of Art while he was with them and the love they showed him. Please know that to us, you are family. We would also like to thank Angel’s Grace Hospice for their caring and concern. Although you were a part of Art’s life for only a short time, the support you provided was immeasurable.
