Flood warnings are in effect for multiple North Texas counties Sunday as a slow-moving storm system continues to bring rain to the region, according to the National Weather Service.
A flood warning was issued for Hunt and Rockwall counties shortly before 1:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 10 a.m. Monday. Flood warnings were also issued for Dallas County until 10 p.m. Monday and Ellis and Kaufman counties until early Tuesday.
A flood watch was in effect throughout North Texas until 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.
A few isolated areas in the storm’s path may see 6 to 8 inches of rain, according to the weather service. Forecasters urge residents not to drive through flooded areas.

A ground delay of about 27 minutes was issued by the Federal Aviation Administration at the DFW International Airport due to “other,” the website said. It’s expected to last until 6:59 p.m.
Dallas Love Field was under a 15-minute departure delay due to thunderstorms as of 6:15 p.m., according to the FAA website.
A flash flood warning was briefly issued Sunday for several counties, including Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin but ended at 10:15 a.m., according to the weather service.
The rain Sunday is expected to gradually taper off by the evening, the weather service said. Sunday’s high is expected to reach near 89 degrees, but humid conditions could push heat index values as high as 102.
The wet pattern should give way to drier, hotter weather this week. Highs are expected to climb into the mid-90s across North Texas, with muggy conditions sticking around.
