The world’s biggest sporting event is almost here, and for the first time ever, the FIFA World Cup will be hosted across three countries: the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The 2026 tournament is expected to be the largest in FIFA history, featuring 48 national teams competing across North America.

With matches taking place in major cities including Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Toronto, and Vancouver, millions of fans are expected to travel to watch the game!

El Paso isn’t one of the host cities, but  just because the matches aren’t being played here doesn’t mean fans won’t have plenty of opportunities to celebrate. I asked El Pasoans where they plan to watch the World Cup, and they delivered a list of local favorites ranging from sports bars and pubs to restaurants and even public fan-fest style gatherings.

The area is expected to serve as a “Distrito Futbolero” or “Football District” designed to bring fans together for a shared tournament experience. With giant screens, public gatherings, and matchday celebrations, it could become one of the most unique World Cup viewing destinations in the region.
