The Midland RockHounds are in a tight race for the Texas League South first-half title with 12 games to go.
The RockHounds host the Corpus Christi Hooks (25-32) to begin a six-game homestand and series at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Midland (29-27) sits 1 ½ games back of first-place Frisco (30-25) heading into the final two weeks of the first half in a race where the division winner advances to the postseason.
The RockHounds are coming off 3-2 series loss to Northwest Arkansas in Springdale, Arkansas, as one of the games was canceled due to rain.
Midland returns home without the ace of its pitching staff as left-hander Wei-En Lin was promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas on its recent road trip.
Lin ranked second in the Texas League in earned run average (1.93), WHIP (0.84) and opponent’s average (.167) at the time of his promotion.
While Lin was promoted, the RockHounds announced that former Texas A&M pitcher Will Johnston has joined the active roster after beginning the season on the injured list. Johnston had a 3.62 ERA last season on the RockHounds’ South Division championship team.
