Texas‘ win over Texas Tech in the Women’s College World Series Finals drew some unbelievably good viewership.

ESPN announced that the series was the second-most watched softball championship series in Women’s College World Series history, but some other history was made.

Game 1 had 1.9 million viewers with a peak of 2.1 million viewers, but things kicked up a notch in Texas’ championship-clinching Game 2 victory.

The 2.5 million viewers and peak of 3 million viewers made Game 2 the most-watched college softball game ever. The viewership was up 16% year over year from 2025’s championship series between Texas and Texas Tech.

The series had some extra intrigue given the fact this year’s championship round featured a rematch of the 2025 WCWS Finals between the pair of in-state rivals, as Texas Tech tried to avenge last year’s loss. Instead, it was the Longhorns who emerged victorious again, securing their second consecutive national championship.
