EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A judge has denied bond for a 31-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed a family member in Sunland Park on Monday, June 1, according to documents obtained by KTSM 9 News.
Prosecutors in New Mexico are pressing an attempted first-degree murder charge against Sarai Ortiz among other charges.
On Thursday, June 4, Ortiz had a detention hearing, in which her bond for five charges was denied. She is also being charged with tampering with evidence, and three counts of aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon.

On June 1 along the 100 block of 105 Loma Vista, Ortiz allegedly stabbed a household member with a kitchen knife and “intended” to injure the victim, according to documents.
Ortiz also allegedly attempted to get rid or hide the kitchen knife used in the incident.
According to court records, Ortiz is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing for her arraignment on Thursday, June 18, at the Las Cruces District Court.
