LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas (KCBD) – Two people are now in custody after deputies with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a high-speed chase on Wednesday afternoon.
LCSO says a deputy was near 4th Street and Bangor, inside the City of Lubbock, when a white van committed a traffic violation in front of them.
When the deputy attempted to pull the van over, the driver fled the area, heading out of the city into Northeast Lubbock County.
The deputy followed in a pursuit and was joined by other Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies and the officers from the Department of Public Safety.
The pursuit lasted over 15 minutes. The van drove across north Lubbock County on a mix of paved and unpaved roads, starting at 4th and Bangor, traveling east to NCR 2800, north to CR 5400, back west to the 1-27 service road where the driver turned south.
The driver ultimately pulled the van over in the middle of the I-27 service road near FM 1294.
LCSO says both the driver and passenger exited the van and fled from the area on foot. Law enforcement officers quickly captured both people shortly after they exited the van, and there were no injuries reported to any party involved.
Two suspects have been detained while deputies investigate, although they have not been formally arrested or charged as of Wednesday afternoon.
We’ll continue to update this story as more details are released.
