KANSAS CITY — Rangers DH Joc Pederson, in the midst of a revival season, left Wednesday’s game after apparently injuring his left hip during a third-inning walk.
Earlier in the at-bat, Pederson had hooked a ball foul. On the next pitch, after crouching to watch a pitch below the zone, he appeared to feel something in his hip, probed it a couple of times, but resumed with the at-bat. When he took ball four and twisted to head toward first base, he doubled over and grabbed the hip, then slowly went to first. He remained in the game, but was lifted for pinch-hitter Jake Burger the next time the lineup turned over.
Later, Burger homered to start the seventh inning to tie the game at three.
