On the occasion of the solemnity of Corpus Christi, this Sunday, June 7, 2026, the faithful of the priory of the Society of Saint Pius X in Antwerp (Belgium) accompanied Our Lord Jesus Christ through the streets of the city.
Excerpt from the Sermon at Mass
If those who lived in Galilee two thousand years ago longed to touch Jesus in his visible body, we possess an even greater grace today. Jesus Christ remains truly present in the Holy Eucharist, in the Blessed Sacrament. The same Lord who walked the roads of Palestine is present today on our altars, in our procession through the streets of Antwerp.
Perhaps some people on the street will wonder, “What are you doing? Who are you walking behind?” Yes, here, the priest is carrying the Blessed Sacrament. We don’t even see the priest himself; he disappears behind the monstrance. We are walking in the footsteps of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The same divine life that emanated from Him continues to be communicated to the souls who approach Him in faith. The question, therefore, is this: do we still possess this hunger, this fervor, this desire to touch Christ, to touch Him in the Most Blessed Sacrament, in the Holy Eucharist?
How many saints were formed before the tabernacle! The Eucharistic Christ continues to heal: he heals pride through humility; he heals sadness through his love; he heals weakness through his grace; he heals wounded souls through his forgiveness.
But we must want to touch Him; we must draw near to Him; we must seek Him. And that is precisely the meaning of our procession today: we follow Jesus like the crowd in the Gospel. Each step of this procession should be an inner prayer: “Lord, let me touch You.”
