North Texas authorities arrested social media influencer Jake Lang on a felony terroristic threat charge the same day he appeared outside the Collin County courthouse during proceedings tied to Karmelo Anthony’s murder conviction and sentencing.
Authorities arrested Lang, whose legal name is Edward Jacob Lang, around 5 p.m. Tuesday after he dined at Pizzeria Testa in Frisco.
Dallas County jail records show officials booked Lang on June 10 and set his bond at $1 million with conditions. The listed charge is “terr threat imp pub serv/pub fear SBI/influ gv,” shorthand for a terroristic threat involving impairment of public service, public fear, serious bodily injury, or influence of government.
Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the specific conduct that led to the terroristic threat charge.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, a Collin County jury convicted Anthony of murder and sentenced him to 35 years in prison for the killing of Austin Metcalf. Jurors also rejected the defense’s “sudden passion” argument, which could have lowered the punishment range.
Daniels Says He Was Also Arrested
Daniels, a former congressional candidate who previously ran against U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), told The Dallas Express he was arrested outside the Collin County Courthouse.
“I was arrested while exercising my First Amendment rights outside the Collin County Courthouse during one of the most closely watched trials in Texas. I maintain that I committed no crime and that my arrest was unjustified,” Daniels told The Dallas Express.
Daniels later wrote on X, “Jail me, hail me, or impale me. I’m still going to fight for what’s right.”
Lang Pushes Back
“Jake jokingly said he would carry out capital punishment on Karmelo if the courts failed to convict him and for that he was charged with ‘Felony Terroristic Threats,’” Lang’s account posted.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed that statement as the basis for the charge.
Lang also criticized the bond amount, comparing it to Anthony’s earlier bond in the murder case.
The Dallas Express reached out to Lang for comment but did not receive a response before publication.
Second Recent Arrest
That warrant stemmed from allegations that Lang hopped a fence into David Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco to film what he described as dried blood from the fatal stabbing of Metcalf during a high school track meet.
Lang had traveled to Frisco in the aftermath of the Metcalf killing and hosted a “Protect White Americans” rally at the stadium amid heightened tensions surrounding the case, The Dallas Express reported.
The latest arrest came the same day Anthony received his 35-year sentence.
