As San Antonio watched the heartbreaking end to Game 4 against the New York Knicks, one celebrity fan was feeling just as upset as the rest of the city.

Selena Gomez, Grammy-nominated singer, actress, and longtime Silver & Black devotee, was posting her live reactions to the Wednesday, June 10, Finals game on her Instagram story. In one story posted during the third quarter, she said it was 3 a.m. in London where she was watching it from, “but can’t miss it lol.” She would later say that she only slept for three hours.

Gomez also posted a screenshot from a group chat (that could include bestie Taylor Swift) where she announced, “Yall 10 point game !!!” to which two others responded that “this sh*t nuts” and and “wherever you’re sitting do not move. Don’t even breathe. If you are driving, stop your car.” After the one-point loss, Gomez posted a photo from a past game where she was wearing a No. 1 jersey, saying “happy for NY but my heart breaks just a lil lol. It’s ok. I’m happy for the teams! Thanks for giving us some great games @nba.”

Then came some more nostalgic photos that many Spurs fans probably also have in their albums. In one, a younger Gomez stands in a Tim Duncan jersey in front of a life-size photo of the Hall of Famer, and in another, she poses in front of the team’s (then) four Larry O’Brien trophies. Lastly, she posted a throwback of her wearing a sideways Spurs hat and sporting that classic 2010’s selfie pose, the duck face. “Just cringe but lol,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, her best friend Taylor Swift was sitting courtside rooting for the other team alongside two of the HAIM sisters, Olivia Benson’s namesake Mariska Hargitay, and other Celebrity Row attendees. Gomez, a Grand Prairie native, has been a vocal Spurs fan for a long time, showing up at multiple games over the years. She even wore a Spurs shirt in a 2022 promo for her makeup line, Rare Beauty. Maybe it’d be a good luck charm if she pulled up to Game 5 on Saturday night?
