First baseman Nick Pratto homered in his first start for the Padres organization and Triple-A El Paso beat Round Rock 7-6 in 10 innings on Thursday.
A former first-rounder, the 27-year-old Pratto was released by Round Rock earlier this week. He had a .659 OPS over parts of two seasons with the Royals (2022-23) and is hitting .235/.290/.490 with six homers in 28 games so far in the Pacific Coast League.
Pratto was 1-for-4 with the homer on Thursday.
Second baseman Nate Mondou (.805 OPS) drove in two runs on two doubles and right fielder Nick Schnell (.897 OPS) and left fielder Nick Solak (.941 OPS) both had two hits.
Left-hander Kyle Hart (1-0, 7.36 ERA) struck out two and allowed a run in two innings to earn the win.
Left-hander JP Sears (7.54 ERA) allowed four runs in 5⅓ innings in the start.
Right-hander Alek Jacob (4.73 ERA) allowed a run in two innings in relief.
El Paso is 29-37.
