LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – We’ve gotten a very nice taste of summer over the past few days as high temperatures have topped out well into the 90s and even lower 100s for some. Temperatures peak today as most hit the century mark this afternoon before we move back into an unsettled weather pattern that will bring in some cooler temperatures.
THURSDAY
Hot. High temperatures will likely reach the century mark for the first time for most this year as we hit the afternoon hours today.
It could be among the hottest days of the year so far as a lot of the area sees their first triple digits(Dylan Smith)
I’ve got a chance for some isolated to scattered storms this afternoon, evening and into the overnight hours as well.
A slight risk is in effect for some of our eastern counties today(Dylan Smith)
Some of these storms could reach severe thresholds if we see them pop up.

TONIGHT
We could see some scattered rain activity overnight along a stationary cold front that splits the are overnight. Low temperatures stay in the 60s.
FRIDAY
We’ll resume more chances of isolated to scattered rain and storm activity through the day Friday.
A much cooler forecast is expected as we head into the weekend and early next week(Dylan Smith)
High temperatures will be a bit more mild in the low to mid 90s instead of the triple digits.
EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN
We’re continuing to eye a series of weak cold front and unsettled patterns as we approach the coming weekend and early next week. Right now it’s looking like our best shots of rain will arrive Saturday night through Monday of next week.
