The Stars forward was one of six players named to the league’s first All-Star team Friday, joining Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid, Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Nikita Kucherov, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar, Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski and Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Robertson beat out several other skilled left wingers for the top spot, including Montreal’s Cole Caufield, Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov and Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor.
Robertson received 95 first-place votes, 72 second-place votes and 25 third-place votes. He was last named to the first team after his 2022-23 season when he finished with a career-high 109 points and 46 goals.
Robertson wasn’t far behind those totals this season. He led the team and tied for fourth in the NHL in goals with 45, finishing with 96 points in 82 games. Robertson also recorded five goals and eight points in six playoff games.
The Stars still have team control. If Dallas makes him a qualifying offer of $9.3 million by June 29, the Stars will retain negotiating rights, meaning they have the right of first refusal to match any offer sheet that Robertson receives from another team.
But without signing him to a long-term extension this offseason, Robertson could be inclined to test the market as a UFA next offseason and potentially walk for free.
Robertson made just $7.75 million annually on his last contract and is due for a massive raise. He will likely seek at least the $12 million annually that Mikko Rantanen makes, if not more.
