As North Texas gears up for a summer filled with international soccer, Plano is bringing a taste of the global game to Historic Downtown. On June 13, Downtown Plano will host “Japan Day: Ultras Meets Plano,” an evening celebrating Japanese culture, music and soccer fandom at McCall Plaza.
The event comes as the Dallas-Fort Worth region prepares to host nine matches during this summer’s international soccer tournament, bringing fans from around the world to North Texas.
Rather than a traditional watch party, organizers describe the event as a cultural exchange designed to connect communities through the shared language of soccer.
Bringing Global Soccer Culture To Plano
The celebration is being presented in partnership with Ultras Nippon, one of Japan’s most recognized soccer supporter groups.
Guests can enjoy live music, a Japanese musician and DJ performance, food and drinks, a full bar and interactive experiences that highlight the passion and traditions surrounding international soccer culture.
The evening will also feature a unique supporter exchange between Japanese National Team supporters and FC Dallas supporters from the Dallas Beer Guardians, creating an opportunity for local fans and international visitors to share traditions, chants and stories from their respective soccer communities. A live discussion featuring soccer personalities and community figures is also planned.
“This event is about more than soccer,” Plano Mayor John Muns said. “It’s about culture, community, music and creating connections between people from around the world right here in Downtown Plano.”
The event reflects a broader effort by communities across North Texas to embrace the international spotlight as visitors from around the world arrive for one of the region’s biggest sporting moments. For Plano, that means creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to experience the cultures that make global soccer unique.
A Summer Of International Celebration
Japan Day is one of several community events planned throughout the region as North Texas prepares for an influx of international visitors.

Ultras Meets Plano will take place on June 13 at 6 p.m. at McCall Plaza in the Historic Downtown Plano Arts District. The free community event will bring together soccer supporters, music lovers and cultural enthusiasts for an evening of live entertainment, Japanese-inspired programming, food and drinks, and a unique cultural exchange between Japanese National Team supporters and FC Dallas fans.
McCall Plaza is located at 998 E. 15th Street and is easily accessible via DART’s Red and Silver lines.
